Old Trafford hasn’t felt like that in months. Maybe years.

Two-nil against City. Mbeumo and Dorgu with the goals. Three more ruled out for marginal offsides. Donnarumma making saves he had no right to make. The Stretford End singing Carrick’s name as if he’d already delivered something tangible rather than just three points and a reminder of what this club is supposed to feel like.

It was one game. Let’s not get carried away. But it was also a statement - of intent, of identity, of a team that finally looked like it knew what it was supposed to be doing. The intensity was back. The pressing was coordinated. The counter-attacks were devastating. City, missing key defenders but otherwise tactically out-thought, managed one shot on target.

Now comes the hard part: doing it again. And again. Sixteen more times between now and May.

So let’s talk about the numbers. What do United actually need to reach the Champions League? What do the fixtures look like? And how do the other teams hunting European football stack up for the run-in?
